Pure Tung Oil

Tung oil is a natural, eco-friendly oil made from tung tree seeds. It soaks into wood, protects it from water, lasts a long time, and will not turn yellow with age. Pure Tung Oil contains no additives, solvents or petrochemicals. 100% natural, pure pressed oil.

How to Apply Tung Oil to your Axe Handle

1. Prepare the handle
   • Sand the handle with 180–220 grit sandpaper.
   • Remove all dust with a clean cloth.
2. Apply the first coat
   • Put a small amount of tung oil on a clean cloth.
   • Rub it into the wood, following the grain.
   • Cover the entire handle evenly.
3. Let it soak
   • Leave the oil on for 15–30 minutes.
   • Wipe off any excess oil with a clean, dry cloth.
4. Allow to dry
   • Let the handle dry for 24–48 hours before applying another coat.
5. Apply more coats
   • Repeat the process 3–5 times for good protection.
   • Lightly sand with 320-grit paper between coats if the surface feels rough.
6. Final cure
   • Let the handle cure for 7–30 days before heavy use. The longer it cures, the harder and more water-resistant the finish becomes.

Tips

• Apply in a warm, dry, well-ventilated area.
• Wipe off all excess oil—thick coats become sticky.
• Reapply a light coat once or twice a year, or when the handle looks dry.

Safety: Oily rags can spontaneously combust. Lay used rags flat to dry outdoors or store them in a sealed metal container filled with water before disposal.
